Hello all!
We recently picked up a few birds from TSC to appease our hen that has been broody all summer (another story). She’s taken them in without batting an eye but we are wondering about a possible ID for one of the chicks.

This one was labeled as an Americana/Easter Egger but the trough also had Mystic Marans in it. The thing that gives us pause is that the chick in question has yellow, feathered legs (you can see feathers developing on its legs) and is noticeably bigger than the other chicks (all about the same age per feathers and the staff at TSC as they all came in the same batch). While I know it’s probably a long shot for a positive ID, especially since I wasn’t able to get good pictures, we were wondering about what this little one might be. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Ita probably a easter egger. Since mystic marans are black with white dots on their heads.

Thanks! We kind of ruled out the Marans (this same olive egger hen has raised Marans, Mystic and Coppers, when we couldn’t break her of being broody in the past few years) since we were used to Maran chicks being black/very dark. We did grab a(n) assumed Maran chick while we were there that she’s raising and the chicks look absolutely nothing alike. We were just questioning the Americana (they were labeled Americana but we don’t put much stock in those being pure at the feed store…) with the yellow legs and the feathered feet - we’ve never had EEs that had feathered legs/feet before even after years of supplementing ordered chicks with feed store ones.

The feather legs may mean it will lay green and is part Marans! I would guess Olive Egger (still technically a type of Easter Egger!)
Thanks for the input! We have an olive egger (she’s the broody hen we appeased) but she has legs that were blue with yellow toes when she was a chick (got her from the feed store to supplement our flock of Ameraucana so we didn’t even consider that. We’ve never had an additional EE that had yellow legs and feathered feet so that’s an interesting idea to consider!
