Hi, Ive just moved into a new property and im looking at setting up a coup. In the garden i found this thing, it looks like it used to be on the back of a trailer or something. Im thinking it would be a good framework to adapt into a chicken coup. I'm in northern NSW Australia, so it needs to be snake and fox prof. I was thinking i could wrap 10mm wire around the bottom to make it secure and then around all the sides. Maybe ad some corrugated iron sheets for a roof, then secure some milk crates onto the side for nesting boxes.
Any other ideas would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance.

It looks like it could be used in some capacity.
How many chickens are you looking to get?

I was also just going to ask how many chickens. If you want chickens for a long time, save this for a sick pen, brooder setup, or meatbird pen. If looks like the frame of a short term setup to me. Good find!!

Welcome to BYC!

Looks to be a fairly sturdy framework.
What are the dimensions?
Not sure if it would better as a coop or a run.
Much depends on climate, number of birds, etc.

3 links in my siggy(hope you can see them) to get you started on learning.

Thanks for the welcome and reply's. Its about 2.5mx2m. We don't intend on to many chickens we only need eggs for 2. They will be out running free for the day while we are home, the idea was this would be used for them to nest in at night.
