I have the following breeds of chickens, both hens and roosters. Could anyone tell me the possible sex-link combinations? I have R.I. Red, White Rocks, White leghorns, Delawares, Barred Rocks, Dominiques, Buff Orpingtons and Columbian Wyandottes. Any help will be appreciated. I already know that R.I. Red roos on Barred Rock hens produce black sexlinks and R.I. Red roos on Delaware hens produce red sex-links. Are there other combinations?

If you read the very first post on this thread, it will tell you a lot about what it takes to make sex links. It also has some charts that can help you determine which breeds to use..

You can use your RIR and Buff Orps roosters to make red sex links with your Delawares and Columbia Wyandottes hens. The White Rocks might work but again they may not. Not all White Rocks have the right genetics to make red sex links. Some do, but some don't.

Your RIR roosters can certainly be used to make black sex links with your Barred Rocks and Dominique hens.

You can posssibly use the Buff Orp roosters too. There are different ways to make buff and I'm not sure if you will be able to see the spot with all those possible ways. If you use a Buff Orp rooster on a Barred Rock or Dominique hen, all male offspring will be barred and all female offspring will not be barred. I'm just not sure if you can see the spot in all cases. I think probably not because the Buff Orp is probably based on Wheaton, which causes problems on seeing the spot. But I always get in trouble trying to predict Buff.
