I went out to the coop to collect the eggs today, only to find a hen in the nesting box instead of on the roost. I thought maybe she might have just gone broody, she screeched and made that sound, but when I put my hand in front of her face to see if she would peck at my hand, she did not do that, she also did not puff up like other broody hens. She is a Light Brahma hen. I continued to examine her because she let me, her vent was normal, her chest was not feather plucked for being broody, and she appeared normal when she ran away from me when I took her out of the nesting box. The only thing I noticed is that she carried her wings a little lower and that when I waved my hands in front of her eyes she didn’t even react, even when I had my hand fully on top of her head. No Reaction! She had no wheezing or sneezing happening either.
I’m stumped, please help me.

Did she go back to the nest? Are there eggs in it? If she's on the nest place an egg in front of her. If she tucks it under herself she probably is going broody. Not all broody hens react in the same way when disturbed.
