I have 11 chicks that hatched Monday. All are doing well with Mom except for one. I noticed today that it stands off from the group. Basically sleeping standing up. All the other chicks are alert and running around, and it just stays on its own.

I'm thinking I should separate it from the group and brood it myself. Any thoughts/suggestions?

I had a chick like that, but it was in my brooder in the living room. He stood by himself, kind of sleeping but not really. I told the kids it probably wouldn't make it

I gave him hard-boiled egg yolk and Poly-vi-sol vitamins (baby vitamins from walmart or any drug store, NO IRON). My daughter kept dipping his beak in the water all day. The next morning, he was eating, drinking and acting normal!

I'd go with the Poly-vi-sol (Enfamil brand if possible..no iron)..2 drops on beak once a day for a week, then taper off for another week.
is the chick eating or drinking?
do try the beak in water as TXmom posted..

describe the droppings..color and consistency..
what bedding are you using?
check the crop..

could just be a matter of being bullied, or more docile, standing off to the side, might be cold..
a little extra TLC might be all that's needed.
