My blue Orpington hen (the biggest in my flock, bigger than my rooster even) has been acting very tired and slow today. I let them out to free range and she moaped out and went over to the dust bathing area all by herself and has been there for a couple hours. She'll get up and forage every once in a while, but then she'll just stand there with her eyes closed. I'm not sure if she's been laying very much lately (she's never been a very good layer) and she doesn't seem to have anything else wrong with her. Should I see how she does and maybe isolate her in my chicken hutch for a few days to see if she gets better? Thanks

Some hens may become internal layers or suffer from egg yolk peritonitis when they develop reproductive problems. If that could be her problem, she may be sore or feel bad. They can have diarrhea or loose stools, have no appetite. Sometimes it is hard to diagnose until they become very sick. I hope she doesn't have that, and that she is just feeling a little mopey.

Thanks! After a while she has been acting like her normal self :/ but I'll still keep a close eye on her...
