Recently my hen has been acting weird, it started with her hiding between the shed and the fence and just laying down. It was weird but everyone assumed she was broody. A couple days ago she jumped the fence and was roaming around our yard, which she's never done before or shown interest in doing. Most of the time she's just off without the other hens. It's mostly weird for her because she's high in the pecking order and loves to boss the other hens around, but now she's not even eating much. This has only been happening in the course of about a week, and she's a plymouth rock (as far as I know of, she's one of the black and white striped ones.) she's also only two years old. Any help is appreciated

Can you examine her and report back? What color is her comb? Is her vent clean and clear? Has she lost any muscle on her breast? Is her abdomen bloated with fluid at all? How does her poop look? Maybe the most important test of all is whether her crop is emptying overnight. Check that it’s empty in the morning. You can also look her over for external parasites. Sorry not to be of more help, but more information is needed. First thing that comes to my mind, is molt. Good luck!

Her comb, vent, muscle, abdomen, and poop are all fine, and she didn't have any parasites from what I could tell. She has been eating but will only take small bites of lettuce which is uncommon for her. She's also drinking, has been laying normally, and we're in California. I didn't think about her molting before, so I'll definitely keep it in mind, thanks.
