it is Friday night, I live in the city, one side of our yard has a 6 ft privacy fence. There is a possom hanging on top. My husband has tried to squirt if off with hose and it just moves down the fence. So now he is going with a shovel.

we dont own a gun
any other suggestions?

Possums are not dangerous. Nine out of 10 die as they are not aggressisve. Leave it alone and it will leave. They eat grubs, and will eat eggs, but they are basically harmless. They will hiss and play dead as a defense. Again, leave it alone and it will leave.

are you sure, because I just read that possums will eat a bird too. I just got my chicks to 9 weeks. Maybe I will keep the dog out tonight.

Well I feel like my tractor coop is pretty secure. I have 1/2 inch wire and plywood. As long as they cant dig! So do I trap the thing or what?

Well, something will eventually be able to dig
can you lock them into a coop/enclosed part at night? and let them out in the morning? into the lower part of the tractor?

Possum will eat a chicken if it can get to it as well as eggs

best method is to secure the sleeping area of your chickens rather than try to kill everything that might snack on them
if they can't get in, they can't hurt them

best of luck
