Possum

I was out for two nights due to family commitments so of course I lost a young pullet each night to a predator. the birds were killed in the hen house and not taken away so I figured either possum or weasel. Well tonight I locked all the young birds in with the older laying flock and took up possition with the shotgun. at 11:00 pm here comes mr Possum well no more chicken on his menu. The dang thing got one of my favorite silkies and a nice red easter egger pullet. It never fails when I am home no problems but go out for the night dead birds. I may start putting out traps to keep predator numbers down.

yes there is but at lease this guy is off the invite list. those are my chicken dinners

Sort of 'Murphy's Law of Poultry Keeping'. Many keep a box trap or two set 24/7.

I just took a box trap back to my brother inlaw the day of the first attack. I am planning to get one soon for skunks, possum and racoons
