I really didn't think the sorting facility would call at nite..I did call the sort facility the day before and left my # and told them to call when in. well after they called at 10:30PM I went and got them and man were they chirping..got home and emptied them out and check em over.. all 30 chicks alive and healthy{seems}
this morning I cleaned out the water feeders and they were actuall quite when I first got in shop.then when turned on lite they started there chirps....here is a picture with my dog ,Yoshi... The chicks actually come running up to him right away and he likes it...theres one RIR that just stays by him..and Yoshi follows him into flock to...

he would never ever bite one for dinner...jeff

one thing I have not seen mentioned for those new to chickens is that you should heat up there water for the first few days so they don't get cold from drinking the water.. forgot to mention also there are 30 chicks . 10 buff ops, 5 each of the following.....black astrolops, salmon favourale, RIR, gold laced wyondot,,,,, jeff

i have never heated their water or thought about doing it. I just place it in the brooder and i guess the heat lamps heat it for them

I have chicks being sent from McMurray Sat morning and I tried calling my PO to get the distribution number so I could call and tell them to call me ANY time but they refused and said that they are all closed on Sun and would not call me :( Not liking the fact that McMurray ships on a Sat! Glad yours made it ok :D

today I cleaned the brooder and it was SO EASY with the burlap sacks.. just take one out and shake it over the garden and then sweep it off and put it back and do the next one...the poops dry so quickly with the lights and it sweeps right off...the waterer's I dump twice a day..i don't use the capacity tank, just fill the ring on the outside in the two waterers and it doesn't waste the additives . just dump them into bucket with the poop in the water and fill fresh from gallon container to the outside ring.. jeff
