I thought there might be a few other heeler owners out there!

This is my Bonnie!

This is Bindi.

She wants to chase my chickens, has gotten a couple down and gotten hold of their wings but no serious biting. Do you have issues with your heeler? She tries to head our cows but she's still a pup and is afraid of them still. This is our first heeler, they are smart dogs for sure. Had a mixed lab and a mastiff before and lost both of them within a year of each other to age. Bindi's parents, who she visits from time to time are pretty wonderful dogs, but her daddy did wipe out his owner's chickens!

Hi, yeah I have trouble with Bonnie, Angel and Diabla killing my chickens they have gotten probably 8 chickens through the years. :( mine do ok as long as they don't get in the yard! I think it's the whole chase thing that gets her going! I have Bonnie who is pure heeler and the other two are half heeler half Australian shepherd but the other two are 14 years old now and don't do to much! My Bonnie is scared to death of cows but will go after anything smaller than her. Your dog is gorgeous, I love heelers but they are hard on small livestock! Here is a better pic of her!

I love the name Diabla! We actually found a chicken buried in the dirt right beside our house in a flower bed. I am hoping our Bindi didn't do that. We did catch a possum around the time we lost our 5 young chickens, but looking into what animals bury their prey, foxes and dogs. I am thinking a fox wouldn't be right by the house, they are pretty skittish. I let my chickens run free range so I will have to really crack down on her going after the chickens. I will yell at her to stop and she will and then she will look longingly at the chickens, sometimes she obeys, sometimes not.

Can you believe my neighbor said she thought heelers were ugly?
Her husband had one years ago, she said they are super smart. She was right about only 1 thing. I think they are super smart and pretty too. Above is pic of Bindi nipping at the heels of my oldest boy.

She's cute I remember when mine were that little! I have to say heelers are my favorite breed! Has Bindi started getting really protective of y'all yet? Mine love us tolerate a few people and HATE everyone else! I really have up watch it when people come over, but then again I don't worry about burglars or salesmen! ;)

We own a very motherly ACD who is especially fond of our English lop rabbits. I didn't want to get her when my husband fell in love with her at a shelter (I spent some time in NV, and being a stranger to them, the local heelers were a nightmare), but now I don't ever want to be without ACDs.

Only dog I know who serenely looks upon mountain top views and sunsets and stops to smell flowers. Weirdo.

I think you have some spoiled doggies there punk-a-doodle, ours is too. What great pics!

Our heeler growls at anyone coming to the door, even us sometimes. She hears the mailman when he is 1/4 up the road and starts, but if he has to stop in for packages she's all lovey dovey. I guess she likes the idea of scaring people and when they are attentive she gives them her sweet side.

I have loved all my past dogs, but I have to admit none have ever been as smart, trainable, mischievous, nerve racking (at times) and well, just special, as our heeler. We are lucky that ours gets to go visit her parents and to see the family all together playing is something. I read that they chew, chew, chew so I bought her all sorts of toys and the only non toy things she has chewed are the eglets (tips of shoe laces, Phineas and Ferb fans will know this) off of some shoelaces- it was like she know she would get in trouble and so chewed something small so we would maybe look over it!

Well I am sad to post we lost our old heeler at the beginning of the the week. Diabla lived a long 14 yrs and was loved and will be missed tremendously!

so love on your dogs everyday because you never know when it's your last time together.

Briar, Bindi looks and sounds like such a cutie!

Fentress, so sorry to hear about Diabla. So glad though that she spent her years very happily with you and the rest of the family. What a great life!
