I need to get a current pic... I still can't tell if its a pullet or a roo, but it's acting more and more roo like

Hi,
Here is a few pics of my Buff Laced chicks, they are purebred Polish but the Silkie hen pictures hatched them for me along with her own Blue chicks.
Today they are a little older and the size difference is much greater. The Polish look so much older than the Silkies, and are much more feathered out.
They are growing like weeds!
The Mama is a Golden Laced and the Daddy is A Buff Laced both have large beards.

Thanks for the thread, I'm enjoying the pics and learning more about Polish genetics.
I'd sure like to find some chocolate with white crests in Oklahoma. Just don't know where to look

wolftracks, if you want to use your buff laced rooster & breed a pure color variety, you'll need to look for buff laced hens. You're not going to get a pure variety by breeding anything else to your buff rooster. Now, if you want variety in color, there are other color varieties that will work together but still produce pure colors--for example, your black/blue/splash or black/chocolate/khaki. And there are many colors that can be bred to black and will produce pure color varieties. You could have a white crested black rooster over black, blue, splash, chocolate, khaki, & cuckoo hens. All of the resulting offspring in this theoretical pen would be a pure, accepted color variety. If you started breeding the offspring from this pen together you'd get a mess, but you get the idea--there are a lot of colors you can match to black & still get pure varieties.

JordanFamily, all of your darker colors look the same to me on my computer screen!

Sorry, I can't tell much more at this point, other than the whites do look white...

Cheryl, if you want chocolate hatching eggs, PM me. My incubators & brooders are a tad bit full. I might be able to help you out.

Everything about that dude is cool.

Here is my chick, named "Buzz" for obvious reasons. He's a cross from my silver-laced under my non-Polish roo Patchwork.

The white one is a seven week old buff laced polish male named snowball. The brown one refused to move out of the way so i could get a good picture of snowball.
