post some pics of your runs in the woods! Please!

Hi everyone. I am trying to get ideas for a new chicken run for my SIL. They are moving to a heavily wooded area and want to try to use the trees as posts for the run area.

Have any of you done this? How do you work in a door? Do you cover it, and if so, how?

Any pics you have would be GREAT!!!!! I love looking at everyone coops and runs anyway!!

Speckledhen, I looked at your gallery with your coop. I know I have seen more pics of your run area in other threads - and of the door but I did see em. I would do a search of your "previous posts" but I think I would be looking for a while!!

Could you post yours? We want to use it as the bases for the design!!

I'll post pics that show the relation of the coops to each other and the wooded area, how's that? There's the main coop, the hexagonal coop and half of the L-shaped shed that has been retrofitted to be a nursery/broody pen. These were taken at different times, obviously.

Hi I don't have pics but we did exactly what you are talking about with part of our run. We have a 12x18x6 dog kennel and then a 40x40 fence in bank. Which is all wooded. We used the trees for posts by nailing the chicken wire to the trees with wire staples. We streached metal pipes across to help support the roof wire. These were also nailed to the trees for support using pipe clamps.( can get them at the hardware store) Then we covered the entire run with 6 ft wide chicken wire we got for free off freecycle, you could use hardware cloth though it would work the same. You need to tire it fast to the side wire and nail with more wire staples, it around the trees to make it secure. It takes alot of cutting and trimming to attach the top exspecially if it is not square. Which ours is not. You might want to recrute a few extra sets of hands cause you can not do this alone.
