Is it wrong that I get excited looking at everybody's eggs? I have my first-ever chickens....12 layers and 15 meaties....that are just 10 days old. I can't wait for the day that I find my first egg! I feel like I'm ten years old and waiting for Christmas!

I know that feeling its awesome that you have started with chickens they are so much fun, wait till you find those first eggs you are going to be jumping like crazy,
What breeds did you get?

I got 12 layers - 4 Barred Rocks, 4 Rhode Island Reds, and 4 Buff Orpingtons. I also have 14 meaties....Cornish Crosses. They are all 11 days old and those meaties weigh 1/2 a pound already! Can't wait for chicken dinner!

Oh hey, you're in Sherwood? We're here in Portland, but really want to move out to acreage in Sherwood.

This is actually from the other day, but I havn't collected eggs yet today. I think one of the light brown ones was from the evening before though, because we have one too many brown eggs, and my second dark brown egg girl didn't lay that day.
