potato peels

We sometimes boil potatoes with the skin on and peel them later. As long as you don't burn your fingers I think it's easier than peeling them before you cook them.

I imagine you read on hear to not feed potato peels. That is a very prevalent myth on here but it is a myth. There is nothing wrong with raw or cooked regular potato peels or potatoes. What is not good for you or the chickens are green potatoes or green potato peels. Potatoes turn green when exposed to light, like sunlight. That green is actually photosynthesis which will not harm you or your chickens. But it is a warning. Exposure to light also causes the potatoes to produce a toxin that can harm you or your chickens. Cooking does not neutralize that toxin. So neither humans or chickens should eat green potatoes or green potato peels. Regular non-green potatoes are fine.

Mine will usually eat raw potatoes but they really like the cooked ones.

You peeling already cooked potatoes
Yeah, I was trying a recipe and it basically failed horribly, so I ended up with 2 plain potatoes with nothing on them. It would've been a waste to just throw them away. But I gave my chickens both of the potatoes, peels and all, and they liked them pretty well.
