I am brand new to chickens, and am interested in crossing the Potchefstroom Koekoek rooster to a black australorp hen in order to differentiate the males and females at hatch, raise a slightly heavier heavier meat chicken, and hopefully keep the the egg laying capacity of the australorp.

While searching the internet, i discovered that the Koekoek is an autosexing chicken, and would like to know:-

1. Will this cross produce autosexing or sex link chickens? (The info I currently have seems to indicate that a black hen will not produce a sex link chick). If autosexing
2. Will the F1 progeny inherit the autosexing?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Welcome, I would stick with the Potch koekoek rooster and koekoek hens, I doubt that the Australorp will add any extra meat or eggs to the koekoek. The koekoek has leghorn and Australorp already in its genetics.
And Barred Plymouth Rock.

Sounds like it'll be a fairly meaty breed as it's a Duel purpose variety.

A few Breeds that may help add more meat when crossed to them:

Buff Orpington(Have been fairly good for producing meat crosses)

Blue Face Hatch American Gamefowl(Had good results for a meat cross)

Indian Malay Gamefowl(Experimenting with meat crosses currently.)

Easter Egger(Have had good results for meat crosses)
