Hi everyone. My 10 mo old buff Orpington hen is acting pretty strange.
I noticed her kind of "off" just not really scratching the ground and closing her eyes at one point so I tried to see if she'd eat and offered her a mini half of a tomato. She then began twisting her neck in the oddest way I've ever seen. I've seen chickens adjust their crop but it just looked like she was choking? She did this for a few minutes.. and then dropped her wing and began to close her eyes. She then got all better and kept walking around pecking with the flock. i felt her bottom and I think*** I feel an egg. I only got 3 eggs today and I have 5 hens. I gave her a vitamin d + citrate pill, gave her an epsom salt bath, and felt her crop which was kind of empty.
She's currently roosting with the girls but she has been making the egg song almost all day throughout the day. Not sure what else I can do?
I'll check her crop tomorrow and monitor her behaviors. While she was with me she did poop, and it appears healthy.
