Poultry-friendly in E Central Indiana?

We're currently planning a December move to Indiana: new job for my husband in N Indy, I'm headed for grad school at Ball State. So we're looking at the small communities in between, like Pendleton, Ingalls, Markleville, etc.

What are YOUR recommendations for the poultry addicted? How about keeping bees too? We've tried contacting some municipalities about their laws with only terse, incomplete replies.

Any advice WHATSOEVER would be greatly appreciated!
