Poultry gatherings!!

Hello fellow BYC members. I am fairly new to ducks. i've had bedroom ducks since october!! I have noo idea about any poultry shows near my area! i've only ever seen one other person around here with poultry (besides chickens) and they have geese.

I live in Chino California. anyone know of anything near me??

We had a gathering of chicken people last year and there has been a little talk of doing another one sometime this year. It was just people though, no chicken sales or anything like that, but I think some people had fowl other than chickens. I hope that we can having another gathering soon!

ETA: I would love to have ducks but I don't think they would work well on my current property.

lol i have bedroom ducks. if i can raise ducks in my room, anyone can raise ducks hahaha.

I can't see my husband letting me put ducks in our room!

My dogs would probably take offense at the ducks being in the house, or outside acutally. I don't live very far from you, just in Pomona and I spend some time every week at a farm in Chino off of Euclid.

hahaha.. my kitties are terrified. my drake is like almost the size of a turkey lol. they don't come in the room anymore and they freak out when the ducks go for a stroll in my moms room where the cat food is lol. i think they like to just hang out in there now lol.

ohh okay. you aren't far from me. i was going to pomona feed and fuel for awhile, but i like the R and L feed store on east end. and i hate the sevillia or whatever it is feed store on euclid. they are responsible for killing my first duckling. if you know anything about the open air swap meet between riverside dr. and chino ave. on campus, thats where i got my duckies!

my mom works in pomona, well it's where pomona la verne and claremont all come together in garey and foothill. she works at california hair. she's a hair dresser

I'm with you on feed stores. Pomona Feed is closest to me, but I prefer R & L. I have been to Sevilla a couple times as it is the closest to the farm, but I have known them to be a bit rude. I haven't been to the swap meet itself, but I did recently go to the livestock auction at the same place. I do NOT recommend it. There were animals in horrible shape and one goat had triplet babies in a pen and they were allowed to lie there dying and being stepped on by the other goats in the pen. It was awful!

i agree the Sevilla feed store employees are rude!!! i haven't been in a long time!!! my ducks love scratch and i apologize and tell them sorry mommy hates sevilla lol. they are really cheap, but i just HATE going in there. the swap meet sounds like it's just as bad as the livestock auction. i more like rescued my ducks. i got the 2 healthiest ones. the poor babies. they had the ducks in wire cages, which aren't good for their feet! some couldn't walk, others looked sick! it was so sad. i would have taken them all, but my ducks are spoiled. my drake is sitting right next to me, talking and waiting for his bill rub. he is a complete momma's boy. he's always by my side lol it's so cute!! they were 5 bucks each. and i bought my first bunny there 2 years ago. i got her, a bag of food and a cage (a bird cage lol) for 20 bucks.

we recently saw 2 muscovy drakes in a large dof carrier. it was so sad. i would have taken them if i could, but i don't have the room and i only have one hen, so i'd have 3 angry drakes right now. they were all dirty. it was soo sad.


uhm ew my hen just pooped and it stinks really bad lol. yay for inside ducks. i gott spray something
