Poultry Shows???

Since I am new to chickens and have never attended a Poultry show, I would like to know if they have their chickens for sale?? I am going to be looking for Marans and they have two shows coming up in NC... Thought this might be a good place to meet the breeders and find out what they have for sale??? So, can you all give me an idea of how things work/operate at these shows?? Thank you Dixie

Most of the shows I have been to have sale birds, but to answer the exact question you asked, no, all of the birds are not for sale. Only a few of the birds exhibited will be available for sale. You never know in advance what all sale birds will be there--if yhou know breeders that will show there, asking them in advance if they will bring sale brids, or let them know what you are looking for can be an effective means of acquiring the breeds and varieties you desire.

If you wait until the show to ask you are likely to hear "I have eactly what you are looking for...at home." (Been there, done that). If there is a breed website, that would be a good place to post requests for what you want and the shows you anticipate attending.
