My turkey poults are 5 weeks old can I put them in there coop outside which they would be closed in with two heat lights on them? Where I live nights are between 40-50 degrees.

Uummmmmmm, well, I guess you could put them out on the soil. If it were me, I would not and the reason is because I have successfully been raising poults and turkeys for about 8 years and I know the dangers of putting poults on soil at such a young age. But that is up to you. Is it possible for you to put sand in the area where you want them to be?

I have been raising my turkeys and chickens together on the same land/soil for about 10 years now w/o an issue. If cocci is a concern, you might want to look into it. But I assumed the question was whether they could go out into the coop, as opposed to out in a run or in the yard at this age. Sorry if I misunderstood. Enjoy your birds! :)

I have raised two sets of turkeys to maturity. I allowed them to grew inside for the first week or two and then put them in a spare hutch. When that was crowded (the weather was better and it was warm enough in the garage to be without a heat source) I formed a temp pen out of fencing which I placed next to the open door of the henhouse (during the day and then in hutch to roost for the night). I never took care to wash my hands between handlings and did slow exposure of droppings via shaving that blow this way and that. When the birds were fetahered in the coop in a fencing wire pen right on the same shavings as the chickens.
This allowed for accumaltion and getting to know one another while maintaining some protection for the poults against the bigger hens and roos. Within a week the birds had established a report and that was that. I never had issues with blackhead or anything else.
I used sea salt and lemon juice if their droppings were getty watery and looked like possible cocci. I also used AVC in the water of the chickens.
My hen and tom are fine and have established themselves as the pair to be in the hen house.

thanks yes they will be inside a coop not outside yet then when they are like 8 or 9 weeks they will be outside and also be able to get inside.

Regardless of where the coop will be, if they are on soil, you STILL have to question the content of the soil. Well at least that is what I would do. Everyone will take care of their poults differently. Just saying....... ;)
