Power Outage......

i headed out this morning around 8am and everyting was ok, i just got in around 10:30am and there was no electricity, it just came back and my temp was down to 80 degrees.......was my egg hurt in any way for the drop of temp?.......i know that hen eggs maintain their interior heat for a while , do emu eggs work the same way?

emu eggs do hold heat.. however it all depends on how long they were without heat and how cold they got.. what day were they on?

I would continue incubating them regardless since you can't candle them and I would hate to throw out a good egg if they did survive

hi.....this is day #2 of my egg.....have been maintaining the temp between 96-97....everything was ok till today with the outage.........

at day 2 you SHOULD be ok.. since the cell division would be just on the verge of starting... just hope for no more temp swings and hopefully if they didn't suffer too much damage in transit in a few weeks you'll have emus
 
You could get yourself a Uninterruptible Power Supply in case it happens again, it's basically a power strip with a big rechargeable battery on it. If the wall outlets in your house loose power it switches over to battery power automatically, they're designed to keep computers running in the event of a power outage so you can save your work and shut the computer down till the power comes back on.
I have no idea how long one would last with an incubator but my computer draws about 800+ watts and will run on a UPS, I doubt many incubators are quite that beefy, if anything it would considerably shorten the time an incubator goes without power.
