Prairie Bluebell might be a dud?

My prairie bluebell "Ladyhawk" laid 1 blue fairy egg 4 weeks ago at 6 months old. She has not laid one since. She is not eggbound. She has no lice or mites. Is she a dud? Lol. She's cute so I won't cull her but I want my blue eggs!

Are you certain Ladyhawk is not sneakily laying somewhere you are not expecting?

Yes, I am sure she lives in a 6x6 house with a 14x6 run, and my husband and I check every day to make sure she hasn't taken a fancy to the floor.

She could have ovarian failure. Not uncommon. She may still lay.
As long as she is otherwise healthy, nothing to worry about. I have an EE pullet that layed one gorgeous egg back in September. Hasn’t laid since.

I hadn’t thought of this! I have a leghorn that is 5 years old that lays almost daily still and a leghorn that’s will be two in August and has laid an egg since early fall. Healthy otherwise, just ran out of eggs right after her first birthday, it seems!

For anyone interested, lol, I have an update. Ladyhawk randomly started laying about 2 months ago and is now one of my most consistent layers

Hurray! My 2 year old Leghorn resumed laying this summer also. I suppose she just needed an 8 month break.

6 months is not very old to expect alot from your hen. I don't remember when my Bluebell egger started, but she lays a good sized egg, and often, she has not gone broody. The egg is a light blue.
