Precocious BR Tom!

Of our 5 mixed turkeys, the only tom is one of the Bourbon Reds. I think hatch date on these was supposed to be May 18 (we got them at a feed store). He started gobbling two weeks ago, and last week he began displaying, and now he's chasing the BR hen around and trying to get her to put out! Isn't 11 weeks a little young for that?

Maybe they are confined in too small a space - only about 200 sq ft for 5 birds - but I'm afraid they'll fly up into the trees if I let them out.

Will I need to keep him separate from the hens? Thanksgiving is still months away!

Sounds like a pretty normal little guy.

My young birds like to gobble most when kids are around. Little girls especially drive them into a gobbling frenzy. They have been pushing each other around and showing off and trying a little pretend mounting for quite a while. Unless someone gets real rowdy and starts beating somebody else up, I wouldn't worry about anything.
