I’ve had chickens disappear. Today I came home & my Brahma mama chicken is gone. Her 3 chicks are here but no mama. All I found was some feathers. No body. This was between 9 & 4 in daylight. Any ideas.

My guess is a bird of prey

Was she free ranging, in the coop, where was she? It could have been any of several predators but most likely Hawk, Fox or Coyote. Where are you located. Need more details to narrow down.

I'm sorry for your losses.

Coyotes leave a lot of feathers, foxes will often maul the animal, and hawks will usually take the whole bird.
In this case it was probably a hawk, but that depends. Were they out in the open or in a coop?

I have a predator proof run .. Simple I dug hardware cloth in the ground and made an L shape so If something tries to get in that can’t dig inside. I had three big holes next to run and predator couldn’t get in. Highly recommend doing that. We have too many large birds here so I can’t let them roam.
