Predators

Yesterday at 5:00 a raccoon was spotted near the muscovies that I look after by the retention pond by my house .. how can I protect them from the raccoon attacking them ?

Bring them home or carry a gun and dispatch. But I doubt very seriously that would be legal if near population. If they can get into the water quick that may save them. Some females can fly too but ducklings are more apt to get picked off.

Not much you can do since the pond is not on you're land(Is that correct?)

I wouldn't advise trapping or shooting something that's not on your property.

Thanks for the response .. I've just looked up an article about raccoons and it says they like a easy meal their are many food sources from various dumpsters at the shopping center the ducks live at so hopefully the raccoon will stick to dumpster diving and leave the muscovies alone .. every night before I go home after checking on the muscovies they gather around me for a nightly prayer to ask God to watch over them ..
