I have the 42" height fence and it works well. I've never had a hen
go over the top.
Don't really have a predator problem here, so I don't electrify it.
But that option is open if needed.
Think I ordered the fence through the Nasco catalog, as Premier
is always expensive.
It is durable. I've used mine 4 seasons and it's going strong.
You'll need to take it down if you get snow in winter. But setup and takedown is easy.
I think it actually looks nice and trim...not the heavy bulky look of a wood or wire fence you'd use for animals.
In my opinion it's a good value. I'd buy it again.
Snow will flatten it, which doesn't really matter too much because you can't use it in snow anyhow (will just ground it out). It is not IMO particularly safe to use unelectrified.
It is excellent for repelling fourlegged predators IF YOU RESPECT its requirements, which are: you have to move it frequently to mow underneath because the lower wires are so low that practically any grass growth will ground the fence out (it is *easy* to move it, mow, and replace fence, but you have to DO it); it is only as good as its charger and electrical connections; and if you have much of any wind you will need to reinforce the corners so the fence doesn't keel over or sag to the point of grounding out. It will not work in snow or in icestorms, or when the ground is too frozen or dry to carry a decent current.
So, it depends what you want to use it FOR. FOr what it's designed for, it's great.
I use the premier fence. I use it for my goats and hogs. A few roos got put in it, the next day they were out. It was a welsummer and a Cochin too. I cut the bottom 2 leads so the fence doesn't ground as easily. Works great for what I use it for.
