Hiya

I will be getting my first flock on the 21st June, they are coming from an intensive commercial egg farm (they have been rescued through an independent charity). Is there anything that I should know other than the standard care and attention written about on so many websites?

If you have rescue hens, how long before they settled? what should i watch out for?

Many thanks in advance

Welcome! I've never done it myself, but some second hand experience here. The hens might look pretty sad at first, and need nail trims. They will be stressed and find everything unfamiliar, so plan on time to settle in to their new home. Eggs will come when they come, and there's no rushing things. It's essential that they get a good layer feed, and oyster shell on the side, or an all flock feed. Good luck! Mary

Thank you so much! The family and I are pretty excited and nervous. I'll post pictures on collection day.
love and light
