Preparing and Showing Ducks

i want to show some of my blue swedish hens at an upcoming show and the deadline for the entry is the 30th so im needing some questions answered

how can i prepare them feather and appearance wise

and do i have to have a leg band on them like the chickens????

We don't have to have a leg band at our shows. And all I do is run them into a dry clean area and give them a pool full of water to swim in. I do that a day before the show and done fine, my cayugas have won several shows off that technique.

ok my plan was to put them in one of my covered pens the night before and let them swim, i was also going to put the heavily soild ones i was going to put them in a tub with only water and try to get all of the stuff off to help them out. thanks i didnt think that you would have to have them hopefully someone else will chime in

Where do you find out about shows? Are there prizes or trophies?

there are prizes and trophies and there is a site you can go to http://www.apa-abayouthprogramsite.org/Show_Schedule_Mid_West.htm its a youth site, but most Jr. shows have a Open show along with it.

Umm wipe them with a silk rag right before the show to make for a better shine and make sure there feet are clean in you have to catch em and wash there feet.
