Greetings All!

I am thinking of getting chickens and have come here seeking the wisdom of the Chicken Masters

I worked on farms as an adolescent, OK, I am still a bit of an adolescent sometimes

, so we will say when I was a teenager and young adult. I have three horses, nine cats and a dog and instead of a partridge in a pear tree I would like to add a few chickens in a coop! I live in rural New Hampshire. I have a friend with chickens and have learned from her, but I hate to bug her all the time as she is VERY busy!

I will welcome any and all information and advice!

Welcome! Welcome! You surely need chickens to round out your farm! They really are a joy to have. Will you keep them in a barn- or are you planning on building a coop?

Hey, I'm a busy person too, but I'll drop anything if someone wants to talk about or ask advice about chickens, that's for sure.

Welcome to BYC, from Cape Cod.

Thanks for the welcomes so far!

And maybe both coop and barn. Coop with in and out access for the Spring, Summer and Fall then a stall in the barn for Winter, probably December-February.

I like the idea of free range during the day, but not at night, too many predators around here; coyotes, fox, fisher cats....
