Anyone have any fun, pretty and whimsical ideas for coop decoration art for the yard? We just finished the bare bones of our coop over the weekend. Still need to decide what color to paint the outside. :). Since we put our coop and run just off our patio, we'd like to dress it up a bit. I'd love it if you'd post pics or links to what you've done! And if you haven't seen the fancy farm girl's coop, take a gander. It is lovely!! I drooled over it. Just a little out of our budget. :)

I was hoping people would want to post pictures. Here is a pic of our progress. Still need to paint and do trim and add some other accents.

Thanks. :). I want it to be attractive given its obvious proximity to the patio, and our other neighbors look on to the other side, which has another metal tile on it. Waiting for things to dry out a bit so we can finish putting on paint and stain on the outside.

It is amazing how nice something looks with a coat of paint. Somewhere on this site is a thread where people posted a bunch of pictures of painted coops. Fun to see how different colors make everything look very different.

I thought that your coop was varnished, it looks so pretty just the way it is.

I really like the hanging baskets of flowers some people hang from the outside coop corners.

Great idea! I would probably typically just do an overall stain, but the plywood we used had some not great color variations and I don't know how they would look stained. I chose a wine color for the sides, trim will be white. Will also be using the same clay color as our house for the overall body of it. Going to have to find a lantern for the front as well. :). I'm planning on planting around it on the other side with a few nice shrubs. Hoping that will bring in some nice colors as well. Great idea about the hanging basket!!

Hehe! I live that you just wrote barf. Hehehe! Well, the color is like a merlot color, a nice kinda purpley-red. In front behind those chairs are some lovely peonies and knock out roses. I have another peony I could plant, and a couple hydrangeas. A vanilla strawberry and a pistachio, but maybe not depends on how I feel. I kinda like the idea of some echinacea, will need to dig out some of the lawn. Or put in a slightly raised garden bed to make it easier for my hubby to mow around the whole thing. We will see... I'll take a better picture when we're done. Hoping that will be this weekend, then I'll finalize the landscape design. :)
