We went to a show yesterday and the birds did well, but I, as a mom, not so good.
Being a horse show girl and new to the poultry show scene, I signed my 6 year old son up for showmanship. I put him in Junior thinking that was for the little guys. Well, novice is for the little guys and junior is for older kids, then intermediate and so on. The judge saw the error and asked him how old he was but still made him go into the older kid class any way. I didn't really know any better or I would have straightened it out right there. So my poor boy went against the big guys. He only was able to answer a few questions, but the ones he answered he answered correctly. Yeah for that! I just feel so bad for him. He would have done so much better in the younger class. I could just kick my self. Ho well, live and learn.
Our Welsummers did well again, Res. Champion Continental, and Best of Breed. The Jersey Giants also did well, with my blue cockerel getting Reserve Variety and Res. of Breed. One of the black pullets got Best Variety and Best of Breed. On the back of the pullets card was written "Champ LF by JR", but we didn't get a ribbon for that. Maybe because it was on the back, they forgot.
So here are the pictures.
