I’m new to chickens. Are there any preventative medication that I needs yo give them? For example for dogs how you give heart and flea and tick medicine.
Welcome to BYC! No, no preventative medications are needed. Chickens do get lice and mites sometimes, so you might want to invest in some permethrin spray or dust, which you can find at a feed store.
No preventative medications needed. A dust bathing area, a good balanced feed, dry housing, and lots of space and ventilation are the best preventatives.
Clean commercial pellet or crumble, clean dry predator proof coop, clean fresh water, and some grit which can be gathered from a local creek gravel bar. Add some oyster shell if they are laying hens.
