Preventing Cockerel From Going Full Caveman?

Ramen has been interesting to watch the last couple days.

He's spending less time with the ducks, but isn't interested so much in the chickens as he is just doing his own thing. He's always been extremely flock oriented, so it's weird to see him by himself.

The two remaining ducks he brooded with still take direction from him, though (a female and male). The older female ducks don't mind his presence, but don't take his directives seriously. He seems to have made friendly with the Duck In Charge, a female named Roscoe. She started sleeping in the coop with him at night, along with another female who isn't yet laying. Ramen seems very respectful of the older girls, and if they tell him to jump, he asks how high.

He still does sometimes quietly tut when he finds a delicious morsel, but he almost mutters it under his breath.

He's really good about getting all the ducks "home" at night to their enclosure. Last night, we closed everyone in the coop for the first time since May. He'd been trying to talk everyone into going inside, but only Roscoe and Daphne followed through. He seemed grateful for the help - teenagers are a handful!

He's very timid around the female chickens. If they give him a sideways look, he takes off in the other direction! I'm hoping his hormones along with time and experience put some starch in his spine. He's had no problem putting ducks twice his size in check...I'm hoping this poise and confidence translate...
