Preventing Hawk Attacks

I would think some strategically placed t posts inside your run would be sufficient for covering the run with Aviary netting. You may have to zip tie it to get it to stay put but I bet this would be a fairly simple and cost effective solution. We moved to an area with a ton of hawks last year and the aviary netting has been successful for us so far although our run is smaller (15x40) so putting it up was a little more manageable. Long term, I plan to plant some trees and shrubs to provide some hiding spots as well.

I just had a red-shouldered hawk fly into my garage, trying to take one of my indoor chicks through the bars on the lid of its bed. It was high enough the reach because it was on a little roost. I can't believe it came inside. I live on 43 acres there were like 50000 squirrels out, and it came inside! I'm in shock.

Right?! I mean it was in an indoor pen, not as protected because it was inside and I didn't think anything would come inside with us. Showed me, I guess. I was on the other side and I heard them start chirping, practically screaming and turned around to see this big hawk. I ran at it and it flew out and I closed the door. It sat out on a limb looking at me through the window before flying off, bold as you please. I hope my cuckoo maran lives, she got gouged. I'm doctoring her.

Thanks y'all, the gouge wasn't actually as bad as I'd feared and she'd be alright except I think her leg is broken. She can't put any weight on it and falls over on her side. She's extremely traumatized and freaks out and tries to run which just causes her to scoot around the box in circles. I'm going to try and splint it, but I don't know if she's going to make it. I gave her a little aspirin for pain. She acts fine except she can't sit up on it or stand up. I'm so sad. I'm moving the rest to very back of the garage instead of the middle.
