I have a flock of 10, 2.5-3 year old layers. I was thinking of selling off some of the flock to get new layers in. How much should I price these gals or are they worth nothing based on their age?

Thanks, Sonja

I completely agree. There's a longer story here. If I do get rid of them for young blood, I was thinking free. It's not fair to have someone pay for a hen that may not lay much longer. Thank you!

I have three 3-year old hens laying 5-7 eggs each a week. Are you sure you want to get rid of yours?

Just a suggestion...hens that no longer lay work very well as canned chicken if you have a pressure canner.

Thank you all for the advice. This has been a finicky flock. I love these birds, but I need to get some new blood in.
