Has anyone really looked into the price it cost to raise homegrown birds. If so what would you price them at to sell to stores or restaurants. With the understanding you have them processed under state laws. I will be doing a number of birds this year and will have better numbers when its all said and done. Thanks

We process our own so have no cost there. Last year's batch of 30 cost $a5 each to raise. Expensive. This year I'm doing small batches, currently have 6. I am also doing fermented feed in the hopes of better health, nutrition and cost.

I bought 20 ducks to raise to slaughter. Actually only 17 to slaughter, the other 3 are Runners and we'll keep them for eggs, pets and fun. I am tracking my expenses to see what they cost me to put in the freezer.

Yes, I thought it was crazy--we did let them go to 9-10 weeks though so that was a factor--they all weighed between 5.5-7.5 dressed., This year I', doing small batches, I currently have 6 3 weeks olds. I am also using fermented feed to try to lower cost and improve health. I'd be curious to know what yours cost out at in the end.
