Just asking ya'll what you'd price hatching eggs that are sold locally. When I sell online, I let eBay determine the price. With locally sold eggs, I can't exactly let an auction determine price. I have to set a price. I'd use craigslist as a judge, but there is nobody selling hatching eggs locally, let alone even duck eggs for eating. Locally, chicken eating eggs go for $2.50 a dozen for normal eggs from a backyard flock.

I was thinking $1.50 to $2.00 an egg. My flock now has 100% fertility, as in two sets of eggs, all developing. My drake is really doing a great job!

Purebred Magpie ducks. They're critically endangered. Almost impossible to find hatching eggs compared to Ancona, which are also critically endangered.

BUT at the same time the market of a very rural area is...different. People just aren't willing to spend top dollar even if it is all snazzy and rare.

Whenever I list on craigslist, I ask myself what I would be willing to pay, as opposed to how much I think I could get. I'm in a rural area and a bit lower pricing moves the stock fast. Also, since Magpies are so rare, a "local price" might encourage some other flocksters in your area to begin raising them. It could be a resource for future breeding. Golly, I almost wish I was local! I'm still a little hung up on which duck breed to go for, and those Magpies sure are pretty.

they are not critically endangered just rare and uncommon, have you seen the updates by the apa they have made a very large comeback

for about 3 eggs id sell them for at least 35 dollars them being magpie , also i was talking about quality like show quality, if they are purebred that amazingly good but if they are top show quality for 3 id do $45

Livestock Conservancy still lists them as critically endangered.
