I purchased an incubator and put some of the eggs from my cochin chickens in, today is day 22 and several eggs started moving a couple days ago. two have hatched and two more are at this moment. my problem is with one of the active moving eggs, it hasnt moved for two days and no pipping or anything. i read where you can put a hole in and check whether it is alive, i did that at the top. i took some shell off and saw that the chick only moved its mouth and no sound and no other movement. i took more shell off and wrapped it in damp paper towel as the membran seemed dry. Well i also saw an article about shrink wrapped peeps. this is what appears to happene to this little one. Also its foot is wrapped around its head. i took more shell off and removed some of the clear membrane from the nares, but it just moves its beak once in a while. i hope i didnt make things worse for it. I know it is best not to try to help the ones that are not doing well, but if it would die anyway i had to try. I dont think it will make it. Should the foot be wrapped around the head covering its eye? It was a very active egg, but never pipped and had stopped moving. Has anyone had a similar problem. am looking forward to hearing from someone. thank you , donna

thank you so much for that. I looked at other sites but they never show that pose with the foot, so i thought it must be deformed. I probably killed the poor thing, but since it stopped moving and the others are hatching i wanted to try to help it. but the membrane was dried looking and fit the description of the shrink wrap thing. I had never heard of it before. I now feel really bad, but it appeared almost gone and i guess i made it worse. lesson learned. thank you so much donna
