I have a 10 week old chicken. I think it may be a rooster. I am hoping not. Last night when I fed them, it kept chasing my Brahma as away from the food. I picked him up and scolded him, but I don't think he cared. LOL Any suggestions or thoughts. Should I keep him if he is a rooster? Are there any advantages to having a rooster? I just thought I would buy new chicks, when I wanted them. I think it is a beautiful bird. I just don't know if we should eat him or not. If we decide to eat him what age do we do that at?

I have attached 2 pictures of the red chicken.

Looks like an Easter Egger pullet to me. That behavior is very normal for a hen or pullet at the top of the pecking order.

It is one of my Easter Eggers. I am hoping you are right! I would be so happy to not have to eat one of them quit yet! LOL! I though I heard a couple of mornings ago somebody in the coop make a different sound than I have been hearing, but last night I think it came from one of my Olive Eggers (which I am positive is not a rooster)

I was worried about its coloring also! I will get a straight on face photo tonight.
