So, I've been incubating Chinese Painted Quail & Californian Quail. I was told to stop turning on the 10th day, of incubation so I did. They were first put in the incubator on the 2nd of July. So, they are due today, there has been no sign of life or anything so far, but it is 4:50AM. I'm not sure if i've ruined the eggs by not turning them enough, we turnt 3 times a day for 10 days, out of 18.

I would like to mention that both quail breeds have different incubation periods.

Chinese Quail's incubation periods are around 16 - 18 days.
(Lockdown should be day 13)

Californian Quail's incubation periods are around 22 - 24 days.
(Lockdown should be day 20)

I hope I'm not sounding offensive as I have no intentions to, but is this the first time you've incubated eggs before? Do you understand the process of lockdown? (Where you stop turning the eggs and increase the humidity in the incubator. This must be done at least three days prior to the hatch date.)

I think you may have stopped turning the eggs a little too early for the chinese quail.

You're turning the eggs enough times a day, but I think for the chinese quail, you should have continued to turn them until the 13th day, then after that, you could have stopped turning.

Also, sometimes quail chicks hatch late (up to four days late I believe); my quail chicks hatched over a period of three days after the expected hatch date, so don't lose all hope.

Next time, though, I suggest not incubating two different species of quail with different incubation periods at the same time as it can cause complications and possibly ruin one or both of the species chances to live.
(Sorry for sounding a little dark there)

Good luck! :)
I hope some of this stuff made sense -- I tend to rant, and when I do, the ranting starts to slowly not make any sense.
