Any of your neighbors need chores done? Do you have Freecycle in your area? People sometimes give away materials and/or sheds on that site.

Being that you are having a hard time building the coop are you sure that you will have the ability to properly feed and care for them? If you do not already have the chickens Maybe you should post the question about the price to maintain how ever many birds you plan on getting if you don't already have them. Good luck. I spend $120.00 per month to feed and maintain 50 chickens.

That is not including anything else just food. Other supplies and tools are needed. Especially in the winter and rain months.

You could always use pallets. The wood is good and most places are good about letting you take them. It just takes some effort to pull them apart (some are more difficult than others).

As others mentioned look on Craigslist and the newspaper. We've had neighborhood kids and teens come by with flyers advertising their services -- usually yardwork or handywork. Good luck!

We use almost all reclaimed stuff to build our coops. The only true expense were the screws and welded wire. Maybe look on Freecycle for scrap lumber & roofing.
