Well I think I'm all done with chickens. I have raised chickens on and of since I was a young kid and I am now 75 years old. I've had problems over the years but this winter was the worst. I've had regular laying hens, backyard mixes, Bantams, White Chanteclers and Buff Chanteclers most recently. I live in an area with very cold winters and that is why I went with the Chanteclers. I have hatched a few over the years with a broody hen. Last spring I purchased 10 female and i male Buff Chanteclers with the hopes of having some meat, eggs and hatching a few chicks this spring. They did not want to leave the coop at all this winter and it has been a disaster with egg eating, feather picking and a rooster that tries to kill me daily. Maybe I'm to old for this hobby so I'm getting rid of the flock as soon as the snow is gone. Thanks for listening.

Instead of getting rid of them maybe you can try putting pinless peepers on every single one of them. That should straighten them out.
