Decided to get 15 ready for the smoker tomorrow for a trial run!! My 4 year old and 7 year old helped out as well. My 7 year old did the bonking and i cut the apendages off and put them in the hot water, then when i pulled them out my 4 and 7 year old would scrape the feathers off and gut them, then i would do quality control, clean them up and bag them!!! They looked so tasty i wanted to throw a couple on the BBQ, but patience is a virtue and i just know smoked is going to be awesome!!

On a side note, i suck at sexing quail, one of them was a hen, ready to lay her first egg. I have been checking the slaughter pen daily to see if an egg would pop up, but nothing, so i was content that i did a good job......................NOT!!!! Oh well, the hen will eat just as good!!

I will post pictures of the finished product fresh out of the smoker tomorrow!!...........Jason

Yum sounds good, my dad used to smoke turkeys all the time.. that made the best gravy!

I hope I get the nerve up to process some of mine someday.... hehehehee

Lol. Yummy! I usually feed the "unfinished" eggs to the cat, WHOLE. I haven't been getting them since I started that though, lol. Birds don't want to share with the cat. She also gets any that I drop. She likes the new pets, lol.

I think they are 10 weeks right now, i havnt had the time to process them otherwise i would have done it a couple weeks ago. I would process them at about 7-8 weeks because the roosters start fighting something nasty, i have all roosters (well, i thought anyhow!) in the slaughter pen and they are really hammering eachother pretty bad, infact i had to dispatch one the other day that was missing both eyes and had blood coming out of the ear, they are brutal!!
