We processed our first batch of chickens last night. It was...interesting. :) We haven't had any sick or lethargic chickens at all, but when we put one of them upside down into the cone, mucus came out of the mouth. It was clear, but it kind of freaked me out. We wound up butchering it anyway, but now I am second-guessing myself. Could it have been sick? Is it still good to eat?

Thank you for any help, I appreciate it!

I would not worried probably just from being hang upside when killed it.Did you withhold food for 24 hours.

I withheld regular feed, but my chickens are all foragers. Turns out they ate a ton of food anyway, all grass/weeds/bugs and whatnot.
