Hello, i truly dont feel comfortable dispatching quail the way I've seen via scissors. I just dont think i can do that.. is there a thingy that i can make or buy that would humanely break their necks? Ive seen some for chickens, but none small enough for quail.

I need a way I will feel comfortable dispatching. Not that im really comfortable with ANY dispatch.. but you know what I mean.. ~sigh..the things i do for my dogs..~

I know a few people with similar concerns who gain some comfort using helium and/or nitrogen going to an air tight container. It's very quick and doesn't appear to cause distress to the bird (chickens in this instance). A .177 or .22 air rifle to the head would be quick and less hands on than decapitation or dislocation...

I have thought about gassing them, i would prefer to do it that way, only problem is that would be an added expense.

I do have a very strong bb/pellet gun but again another problem, i want to be able to feed my dogs the heads and i dont wanna go fishing for a bb or pellet.

I know there is a chicken wringer thing but i dont know if a quail would be too small for the chicken wringer. Does anyone have any experience with them?
I also seen a clamp thing, it has an arm that lowers. The guy said it can be adjusted but again.. dunno if it can be adjusted for a quail?

Im in no need to dispatch, i only have 6 quail and they are about a month old, so i have plenty of time to figure something out before they get breeding.

Just trying to think ahead..

And ty for both suggestions, gassing still might be a good option :)

I used to have ball pythons and bred my own rats. I co2'd them with vinegar and baking soda. Always wanted to invest in the canister and valve thing.. just never really got around to it. Might finally look into it!

Funny thing was. After 10+ years i got out of the snake hobby because killing the rats were really weighing on me.. now i feed my dogs raw and i breed rabbits (AND THEY ARE BY FAR CUTER LOL) and now starting with quail. Go figure lol
