Professional designer builds new pens with custom feeders and watering system!

Hello all, Sorry it's been a while, I was (and still am) sick... really sick... been in bed for 4 days (impossible for me as I am always up and working... intense vomiting and diarrhea with 102+ fever... lost over 20 pounds! It looks like I can insert some photos so I will try... not much I can add narrative wise as I am still just hanging on to be sitting up ... sorry... Let's see how may photos I can insert: Great! They're here! These are of the feeders: The white parts are 2" PVC plumbing pipe and fittings (Shortened T and cap couplings to fit the door mount. The clear parts are custom vacuum formed parts (I have a complete shop specializing in plastic fabrication with two vacuum formers)... Impressive stuff! I really like those feeders.....you need to patent and sell them! :bow

Thanks Gentry!

They've been working for several months now... I added small plastic walls around the outside of the feed access holes as I was still getting some spillage from the birds... Now there's none! ;)

I have so many other projects (both client based and my own) involving patents and developing for market... I thought about producing these but for the amount of work, it just wouldn't be a viable project... still might think about patenting and selling to another feeder manufacturer though...

The watering systems just didn't live up to what I was hoping for... Never considered the Quail kicking up so much sand and there seems to be a magnetic vortex that sucks anything loose into them requiring occasional cleaning... I'm going to opt for the small red watering cups, but I want a quick disconnect set up so we can still slide the cages out of the frame for cleaning... I've seen some quick-disconnect fittings with valves to shut off the water when they are removed... Probably going to add that to my list of farm chores around here for spring...

We're up to 6 breeder quads, all doing well and we're averaging about 60 eggs a day! Incubator is working really well and I've been studying more about hatching so after the holidays, I'll start raising more for meat (Our freezer is starting to get low although there's tons of rabbit meat! LOL!)

Thanks for the kind words!

Richard

Have you thought about trying the nipple drinkers. They are great, you can get them for 2 dollars or so a piece and thread directly into PVC. No threading needed, the ones I bought needed an 11/32 drill bit, that way you could fashion your own tubing system and tank. I fashioned mine as gravity feed but using a pressure reducer would work on a pressurized system
