I noticed my hen had a prolapse last night. This morning I gave her a bath. It looks like it's been out for while. I sprayed vetericyn on it but didn't put it back in. Do I need to remove the part that looks black? I am going to separate her.

Separate her so that her prolapse doesn’t get pecked and vent injured. Honey or sugar and water paste can help reduce swelling. Keep the vent area cleaned with at least a daily soak. Apply a mild ointment or oil to keep the prolapse from drying out if you still cannot get it to go back in. Push it back in and hold it for a few minutes while holding her on your lap for awhile.

I have her separate and put honey on it. Should I also do an ointment? And which one?
