Hi my pullet is laying her first egg. Her insides have come out but the egg is still stook inside her. Help please!

Update: my dad and I soaked her in warm water and gently rubbed the prolapse there didnt seem a hole for the egg to come out. There was a really thin lining at the bottom of the round part of the egg. Eventually the thin lining seemd to open and then the egg popped out followed quickly by a soft shelled egg. Her insides are a small bit out but she seems OK. She's in a good mood. Ate sweetcorn and is in a cage in my kitchen by the fire until she recovers. It was very stressful for us and she seemed to enjoy it! Hopefully she'll make a full recovery. This was her first egg.

This does happen occasionally, and the opening for the egg tract can be hard to find to get the egg out. Maybe it did open for you. Did there seem to be any tearing in the membrane? I would use some vaseline or mild oil on the prolapse to keep the red tissue from drying out before it goes back inside. Pictures could be helpful. Prolapse can recur, so I would probably give some human calcium citrate with vitamin D 300 mg orally daily for the next week. Let us know how she gets along. Here is where to find the calcium:

There could have been tearing. I'm really not sure. It seemed normal enough when it was coming out. I will send some pics after I come back from town. I'll put vaseline on her aswell. She has electrolytes and she loves the bsf larvae. How long could it take for the prolapse to retract? And what causes this?
