I bought a chick about a month ago who had been severely picked on at her previous home and had no feathers or down on her whole butt area. I was told she was 8wks old but a runt. I noticed she had a prolapsed vent and cried out when pooping. I have doctored her and she looks so much better now (a month later) feathers have grown and she looks healthy BUT her vent seems to occasionally prolapse and when it is not prolapsed, it just does not look quite right, it looks really red and open and just raw. Will this chick be okay to eventually lay eggs? I don't want to put her through pain and misery if that is all it will cause her but I also do not want to loose her, she is one of my paired polish hens. Will it eventually heal since its gotten so much better in a months time? I had been spraying it daily and putting some Neosporin on there and for the past 2.5 weeks I have been leaving it alone and just checking on it occasionally. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
